Home Remedies for Liver Cleansing

  • Chicory: This is useful in liver cleansing. The juice of this plant increases the secretion of bile, hence useful in bile obstruction, sluggishness of the Liver, Jaundice and in enlargement of the Liver.
  • Aloevera : Aloe vera helps to tone up the liver, cleanses it and is effective in cases of enlargement of Liver.
  • Sugarcane juice: This is one of the most effective home remedies in the treatment of Jaundice. It promotes more urination and cleanses liver. 
  • Triphala powder: Make a decoction of triphala powder with water. Drink this decoction twice a day. Triphala is also available as herbal supplements.
  • Amla or gooseberry:  Take fresh juice of amla or the powdered form of dry amla with water twice daily for about 15 days. It will help with many Liver conditions and cleanses it.
  • Grape fruits: Grapefruits are rich in Vitamin C. It has ability to burn fats hence it is used in fatty liver.
  • Butter milk: Drink buttermilk with a pinch of salt and roasted Cumin seeds. It is beneficial in liver cleansing.
  • Lemon: Lemon juice plays a vital role in liver cleansing. Being rich in Vitamin C, lemons help the liver to flush out the fats.
  • Apple: Apple or apple juice is good for a liver cleanse because it is useful for relieving toxins from the body. In fact, during a liver cleanse diet, it is often recommended to drink two glasses of organic apple juice every two hours, for two days. Apple juice contains malic acid that helps dissolve gall stones.
  • Orange: A good source of vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin B1, vitamin B3, vitamin B9, and caroteniods, oranges support proper liver health.


Liver Cleansing with Lemon
Cut a lemon into four parts. These should be without seeds. The lemon should be cut in such a way that the parts should not get separated. In one part put black pepper, in one put black salt, in one put Sonth or Dry Ginger, and in the fourth, sugar candy. Cover it with plate overnight. In the morning one hour before breakfast warm this lemon and take the juice in through the mouth. It is useful in liver cleansing.


Healthy Diet
  • For a person with liver disease, take a diet that is rich in carbohydrates. Also you need to have sufficient proteins. 
  • Fat intake should be only moderate
  • Sodium intake should be minimal. 
  • The diet should be rich in Vitamins especially Vitamin B. 
  • Oily and spicy foods must be off the diet. 
  • More so, alcohol and tobacco are a strict no no. 
  • Coffee, tea and carbonated drinks may be had only minimally. 
  • Processed foods must also be avoided. 
  • Take vegetables like as sprouts, cabbage, tomatoes, beans, and beetroot, bitter gourd, drumstick
  • Garlic must be used in the diet.Carrot juice, spinach juice and cucumber juice may also be had regularly.
